The Bureau of Engineering was established in 1929 (Ch. 468, Laws, 1929) and replaced the State Department of Engineering (WIHV87-A1266). In 1959, the bureau was placed under the Department of Administration. It was merged with several other units in 1971 to create the Bureau of Facilities Management (WIHV85-A777).
